Here's another sketch of that young woman standing in the cove by whatever exotic sea she might live near....

I did this for my blog on my website today.... and thought I'd post it here on my LiveJournal as well. I don't know how much cross-pollination there is between this journal and my web site... but I thought I'd cover all the bases. I like the way this particular sketch came out.

This is a sketch I did for the upcoming HEROES CON program book (the show is June 15-17). It's a take on the cover to the first issue of FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN I drew. This time, though, instead of SPIDER-MAN it's SPIDER-HAM... and he's in the black costume.

I had done this sketch of a kid flying with a jet pace over a year ago.... and this past weekend, I got the itch to finally color it. I kind of like the way it turned out.

Warren Ellis continues his REMAKE/REMODEL subject threads over on his forum this week. The character he offers up for reinterpretation this time is BUCK ROGERS-- who, as I found out in Warrens description of the character, was actually created BEFORE FLASH GORDON. I learn something new every day-- even if most of it is useless fanboy trivia. Warren always provides origin excerpts and descriptions of the characters he chooses from as many source materials as he can find to help the artists for each thread... but what got me for this one was this personal aside/thought about this particular subject:

" I have a fondness for what people call the "paleo-future" or retro-future/retropunk aesthetics. I don't want to colour your remake too much -- but consider a scientifiction romance of the 25th century where there are no computers."

For some reason, those words helped to evoke something in my mind, and I came up with the sketch that I'm posting today.

I felt like drawing a cowboy riding a horse as fast as it can go.... and so I did. Nothing heavy-- just for fun.

Warren Ellis has been conducting a PROJECT ROOFTOP-style exercise on his forum (called THE ENGINE) where he asks artits to REMAKE/REMODEL particular characters. This past week's subject matter was SUPERGIRL. I know that Dean Trippe has started some terrific memes (including a SUPERGIRL version) in recent times.... but I missed on on his KARA meme... so I thought I'd jump in on this one at THE ENGINE.

With the death of CAPTAIN AMERICA in his latest issue, there's a cool meme started of CAP sketches/illustrations to mark that 'event'. This is my entry for that you can check out HERE.
